Benji Madden

“In the height of the pop punk explosion of the early 21st century a band called Good Charlotte came along featuring a couple of twin brothers as it’s leading men. Benji, the guitar playing twin, had long black liberty spiked hair at the time and I just had to draw him.

During the coloring process, I chose to do his skin as a cold-as-ice gray and his eyes as demonic red instead of the regular human colored skin. I think it really added to the feel of this piece and helped set it apart from a straight portrait.

I still get people asking me when I’ll do my version of Benji’s brother, Joel, the lead singing front man. Maybe someday.”
