“While working one day I got a phone call from a local high school student starting his freshman year. He was part of a program where, on Wednesdays, they would send the students out into the community to apprentice with a mentor. Josh Thorne wanted me to be his mentor.

Over the next three years we would spend each Wednesday together, doing art, playing music, and making comic books. Josh’s book featured a hapless fast food worker named Humberto. As a gift for his completing the book I did this cover.

As of this date, I am still waiting for his second issue. I think he only has one page left.”
